Summer 2026 Music Theatre Intensive Program for Teens

Are you a teen with a passion for the performing arts? Join our Summer Music Theatre Intensive Program, in collaboration with The Toronto Music Alliance, designed for youth ages 13–17 who want to develop their skills in acting, singing, and dancing. Over four dynamic weeks, participants will train with experienced instructors and guest artists, and collaborate with peers.

The program will culminate in a public performance of the beloved musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee by William Finn and Rachel Sheinkin, allowing participants to showcase their talents for family, friends, and the wider community. This is a fantastic opportunity to experience the thrill of live theatre and build lasting memories.

Program Overview
Duration: 4 weeks (July 6 - August 8, 2026)
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Rehearsal Location: Toronto Music Alliance, 323 Oakwood Avenue + Oakwood Baptist Church, 421 Oakwood Avenue, Toronto
Show: The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee by William Finn and Rachel Sheinkin
Performances: August 6-8, 2026 (4 shows)
Performance Location: TBA, Toronto
Program Fee: $1,500 CAD/1175 USD all inclusive
Program Features

Acting Workshops: Character development, improvisation, and scene study.

Singing Training: Group and solo vocal lessons, harmonization, and musical interpretation.

Dance Classes: Choreography, movement for actors, and musical theatre dance styles.

Masterclasses: Voice, repertoire, audition techniques, acting through song

Guest Artists/Ask-a-pro: Guest artists share insights and industry experience.

Ensemble Building: Teamwork activities to foster community and collaboration.

Public Performance: Participate in a fully staged performance for the community at the end of the program.

How to Apply

Open to all teens aged 13-17 with an interest in musical theatre

Submit an application form and brief video audition (apply here)

Audition Details
Round 1 Audition: Preliminary Self-Tape

Two contrasting songs, one must be musical theatre; 32 bars or 90 seconds (with backing track or acapella)
-
Slate stating name, age, height, preferred pronouns if you wish

Any other special skill (i.e. dancing)

60 seconds why you want to join the program

Audition reels must be received by Sunday April 12, 2026

You will be notified by April 24th of your acceptance of admission.

If you are accepted: Due to participants receiving show materials, all fees must be paid prior to Round 2 Audition.
​
Once accepted, we urge participants to familiarize themselves with the show, and if you have a preferred role, let us know during Round 2 Audition.
Round 2 Audition: In-Person Audition

In-person audition on Sunday, May 24, 2026 at 323 Oakwood Avenue, Toronto (if you are further than 50km away, a Zoom audition can be arranged)
