Avi Sarkar
President
Avi brings extensive experience in leadership, nonprofit governance, and strategic planning to No Strings Theatre. With a background spanning both corporate and nonprofit sectors, he has successfully led large-scale transformation projects and held various leadership positions that have shaped his expertise in building inclusive environments and driving organizational growth.
Avi has a strong track record of developing impactful fundraising strategies and re-engaging boards, skills that will be instrumental in helping No Strings Theatre grow its reach and empower the next generation of performers.
Avi is deeply committed to equity and inclusion, having spearheaded several diversity initiatives in his previous roles. He is excited to bring his passion for the arts, education, and community development to No Strings Theatre, helping the organization thrive and continue its mission of fostering an equitable and inclusive space for emerging artists.

Karen Sampson
Secretary
Karen Sampson, a dedicated law clerk, brings her expertise in administration and organization to her role as Secretary on No Strings Theatre’s board. With a passion for theatre and a strong commitment to community service, Karen combines her professional skills and love for the arts to support and strengthen our mission. Through her work with No Strings Theatre, she finds a meaningful way to give back and stay deeply connected to the creative community.

Kevin Mao
Treasurer
Kevin Mao is a Senior Strategy Manager at Telus and serves as Treasurer for No Strings Theatre. A Chartered Professional Accountant, Kevin holds a Graduate Diploma in Professional Accounting from the Rotman School of Management and a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting & Economics from Rotman Commerce, University of Toronto. Kevin leverages his financial acumen and strategic expertise to ensure strong fiscal stewardship for No Strings Theatre, supporting its mission to make a lasting impact in the arts community.

Patrick Jang JD, MMus, OCT
Director, Fundraising and Marketing
Patrick holds a Master of Music in Opera Performance from the University of Toronto Opera School, a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Western Ontario, and his Juris Doctorate law degree and Bachelor of Education, and certificate of International Business from Queen’s University, and Law Practice certificate from Ryerson University (now Toronto Metropolitan University).
He is an accomplished actor, singer, and former commercial print model, and a national scholar, having been awarded a Canadian Graduate Scholarship from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, offered an Ontario Graduate Scholarship, and having earned a National Excellence Award from the Canada Millennium Scholarship Foundation. Some of Patrick’s performance credits include roles and chorus with the Canadian Opera Company, Opera Atelier, Toronto Operetta Theatre, Toronto Summer Lyric Theatre, the Tanglewood Music Festival (Boston Symphony Orchestra), the Bel Canto Institute (Florence, Italy), and the Aspen Music Festival (as a winner of the 2009 concerto competition). He earned a certificate in Intermediate Italian studies from the Scuola Leonardo da Vinci (Florence).
He has performed in concerts and operas throughout Canada, the United States, and Italy, and has studied law in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Patrick has performed multiple seasons with the Canadian Vocal Arts Festival, Opera NUOVA, and the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity's Opera as Theatre program.
Patrick currently works as a Senior Business Studies teacher with the Toronto District School Board, teaching Marketing and Business Leadership and is qualified to teach Business, Vocal and Instrumental Music, French as a Second Language, Guidance and Law.
Patrick works teaching and tutoring privately in music, modern languages and math, running his own business and also working with Neighbour Note. He has also worked as a lawyer, financial advisor, translator, and editor.
