1. PIT ORCHESTRA PROGRAM AUDITIONS (AGES 13-21)

This pilot program is designed to assist young instrumental performers with their professional experience and skills.   It will help them make new contacts, challenge them to think outside of the box and it promises to be rejuvenating in every way.  Participants of the program will perform in the pit orchestra unless otherwise advised at the start of the program.

 

PLEASE NOTE THAT WE HAVE MADE RECENT CHANGES TO OUR PIT ORCHESTRA PROGRAM. THIS WILL NOW BE A HALF-DAY, TWO WEEK REHEARSAL AND MASTERCLASS PROGRAM. PLEASE REFER TO THE FEES BELOW.THE APPLICATION FORM WILL BE ADJUSTED TO REFLECT THIS.

Physical conditioning, vocal classes, improv, masterclasses, seminars, rehearsals for featured summer show, performance in the show's Pit Orchestra.

   16 spaces for strings, horns, reeds - admission will be by audition.

Fred Osachoff MMus BEd 
Music teacher, adjudicator, composer and arranger

Fred Osachoff is a professional freelance clarinetist, composer, and educator. He has performed internationally as a soloist and chamber musician, locally with various orchestras and chamber groups, and was in the pit orchestra for the entire ten year run of the Toronto production of "The Phantom of the Opera". As an actor/musician, Fred was a founding member of Trio Mio, a group that created live and wacky educational children's shows, performing from coast to coast and abroad in both official languages. As an educator he is sought after as an adjudicator, clinician, and private studio teacher. Fred currently heads up the musical theatre program at the Etobicoke Collegiate Institute for the Toronto District School Board and is a former teacher of the Royal Conservatory of Music.

 

Keith Reid MMus, BEd

Music Director, Conductor 

Keith Reid is very active as a conductor, performer, and clinician in Toronto.  He has a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Toronto and in 2006 he was the recipient of the Victor Feldbrill National Graduate Fellowship in Orchestral Conducting.  While at U of T, he had the opportunity to conduct both the Symphony Orchestra and the Wind Symphony.

As a conductor, Keith has led ensembles comprised of members of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and the Windsor Symphony Orchestra.  He has conducted at the University of Toronto’s Walter Hall and MacMillan Theatre, and also at Massey Hall. 

For twelve years he was Music Director of the Hart House Symphonic Band.  While associated with Hart House, he also spent six seasons as conductor of the Hart House Summer Orchestra.

Currently, Keith is Artistic Director of the Festival Wind Orchestra, Assistant Conductor of the Cambridge Community Orchestra, Assistant Conductor of the Kindred Spirits Orchestra, and Conductor of the Settlement Singers chamber choir at the University Settlement Music and Arts School.

Keith has also been active as a conductor and performer for many musical theatre productions including How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying, Once On This Island, Kiss of the Spider Woman, and A Chorus Line.
